Precisely nothing.
What do you know of the Myth of Inanna. Most particularly her Descent and Ascent? Perhaps you know exactly what I knew in 1988. Precisely nothing.
Women, we have so much yet to learn. We know so little of our own history for it has been buried, burned, hidden and female bodies judged inherently obscene. I learned about Demeter when I wrote my dissertation, The Apple and The Talking Snake: Feminist Dream Readings and the Subjunctive Curriculum (2008). I had learned about Inanna but not enough. By 2015 when I began writing my dream Memoir, I found my dreams filled with Inanna energy and imagery.
Have you read my memoir Trilogy? I, the Woman, Planted the Tree: A Journey through Dreams to the Feminine? What about Authoring Self: A Journey through Dreams to the Feminine?
If so, then you know something of my anthropological excavations and dive into the underworld, my life, my dreams, healing and further you may have puzzled through my dream work and wondered where to find more of our woman history. You may have wondered about Inanna.
What do you know of Sheila Na Gig, the Irish goddess? What about the Fertility, Birth and Death as the Cycle of the Feminine through Maiden, Mother, Crone?
It was 1983 when Diane Wolkstein and Samuel Noah Kramer wrote their incredible book of Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth: Her Stories and Hymns from Sumer. I found that book in Connecticut in 2017 at a conference with the Emerging Feminine in Turbulent Times. It was also at that conference that I created the fabric art that became the cover of Authoring Self. Inanna seeped into my psyche and she settled in to my bones.
